About this curriculum

Coursebook Overview View samples of our 5th grade curriculum here. In 5th grade English students take a deep dive into writing mechanics by practicing many different types of writing. They focus on grammar spelling punctuation and the parts of speech. Writing assignments include essays reports a speech a business letter and a short story. Students read a variety of novels related to early American history (which complements their history course). Assignment checklists in each lesson help students see at a glance what has already been completed and what still needs to be done. Comprehensive learning assessments are included at the end of each lesson to help parents document student progress identify strengths and areas where more support is needed and track learning over time.
