About this curriculum

Course Overview: Course Length: Full year Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 View samples of our high school curriculum here. This full-year course provides students with a solid understanding of health, wellness, and physical fitness. Students are encouraged to think critically about health-related topics, particularly those about which there is conflicting information in the media, and will practice evaluating the credibility of sources. Course topics include mental health, stress, anatomy, the systems of the body, reproduction and sexuality, nutrition, relationships, drugs and alcohol, diseases, and personal safety. In addition, students will be actively engaged in a physical fitness program throughout the year that will help them develop strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. Recommended for grades 9 - 12, with the understanding that sexuality and sexual health is part of the course The course is inclusive in terms of gender identities, LGBTQ communities, birth control, and related topics.
