About this curriculum

This Self-Paced Significant Figures & Precision course is designed to be a short science elective to help high school students become comfortable with the rules for rounding numbers when precision and significant figures are required. Students who have been exposed to some of these rules through a science course such as chemistry or physics may find this self-paced course to be an excellent review. In this short Significant Figures & Precision Self-Paced micro-course, students will be taught the proper method of implementing the rules of significant figures for the type of calculations they are asked to perform in math and science courses. These rules are covered briefly at the beginning of most physics and chemistry textbooks; however, this course puts all of the rules in one place and gives students plenty of exposure and practice so they become comfortable implementing these rules when required.
