About this curriculum

Some of the activities will require some prior instruction. The students will need to be taught about similes, alliteration, synonyms, antonyms, adjectives, adverbs, etc. They will also need to know about syllables. Make sure that students have access to and can make use of a dictionary and a thesaurus. I have included teacher lead up materials as well as activities for the students. Initially, I used guided reading and writing experiences in order to introduce these elements of literature -and grammar to the students. Subsequently, the students were asked to utilize these elements to enhance the quality of their personal writing. These activities are a valuable addition to any classroom spelling and creative writing program. I have enjoyed using them with my students and I am sure that you will too.
