About this curriculum
Working in groups, students are given $100 000 to invest in stocks. The real-world application of this project will motivate students as they develop hand-on math skills, in addition to communication, computer, and fine art skills. Students will also learn valuable lessons in management that are applicable to all vocations. This comprehensive resource includes background information and everything you need to lead your students in an experience in the stock market they'll never forget. AIM The aim of this unit is to develop the students' understanding of the stock market and the world of business. The unit will motivate the students and provide an avenue for developing and applying mathematical skills ( whole numbers, integers, algebraic expressions, fractions and decimals), writing skills, art skills, computer skills and dramatic expression. The computer is used to aid in the presentation of a portfolio and marketing pamphlet, as well as develop skills using spreadsheets and graphing functions.
