About this curriculum

Sample A Pliny Workbook has been designed and written to facilitate students’ reading and comprehension of unadapted Latin prose, particularly Pliny’s letters, as well as complementary companion texts that further illuminate Pliny’s subject matter and themes. This workbook contains all ten of Pliny’s letters required for the AP® Latin Examination, along with ten suggested letters—twenty letters in total. Following the text of each letter, a variety of exercises gives students practice with all aspects of the AP® syllabus: content, translation, grammar, syntax, vocabulary, rhetorical devices, and literary analysis. The format of the exercises helps students sharpen their skills while familiarizing them with the types of questions frequently found on the AP® Latin Exam. Similar exercises follow each companion text: selections from Eutropius, Breviarium Historiae Romanae; Rafael Landívar, Rusticatio Mexicana; Seneca, Epistulae Morales; Augustus, Res Gestae; Cicero, Ad Familiares; and inscriptions.
